In Greta's opinion, a good husband is like a well-trained dog: You shouldn't see or hear him except on command. When her friends come over for a tour of Greta and Paul's new home, they wonder why there is no trace evidence of the man of the house, save a few shards of shaving stubble in the sink.

Greta doesn't reveal that Paul and all his belongings live in the crawl space behind her walk-in closet. Over the years, she's trained him to be invisible.

That's not to say she doesn't take good care of her pet. He even gets to sleep in the big bed when he deserves it.
