Centuries have passed since the universe began rapidly contracting—the Great Collapse. Now, all that remains of the cosmos lives on Samsara: a large, vibrant planet surrounded by a mysterious forcefield that protects it from the Great Collapse.

But who built this forcefield? And why did they choose this planet?

Magnus, a young physics student on Samsara, can’t seem to stop asking these questions. But when his university is invaded by a neighboring military and one of the engineers that designed the forcefield comes to his aid, the answers begin to flow.

As Magnus is thrown into the chaos of war, he slowly comes to discover the universe's darkest secret: there was a message written into the very fabric of the universe—written into the laws of physics themselves.

When Magnus learns who wrote the message and what it says, it slowly dawns on him why his world is plagued with so much war, why the mysterious engineers built the forcefield, and of all the planets out there—why they chose Samsara.
